Juicy Spiders For Holloween

I recently visited my niece, who's almost 2 and a half. She seemed to be obsessed by monsters and juicy spiders. I brought a book with photos of insects and spiders and such. All she wanted to do what look at the spiders. She didn't seem to be afraid of them at all. When her father found a spider she had to go look at it before he disposed of it. And of course they were all juicy spiders; no crunchy spiders, chewy spiders, fuzzy spiders, or a bit dry but okay with a bit of gravy spiders. Just juicy spiders.

A Bit of Good Luck

Found this guy in the doorway when I took out the trash. Seems to be a male field cricket of some kind.
I didn't expect to find this guy so late in the year.

Autumn

As the outside world changes around us,

cooling, deepening,

turning inward,

what about the world within us?

Cold Mornings

It was 10 degrees when I woke up this morning. As you can see, I have very well insulated windows.

So Far So Good

One week off his meds and all's well. (Venechka still can't think of anything nice to say about him and she's taught me plenty of new expletives.)
