Crystal Door Knobs

I've always loved crystal door knobs. The house we affectionately call "the old house," where I lived from ages 5 to 11, had door knobs just like these.
I've held onto this one for awhile and I'm not sure where I got it. I like to think it somehow came to me from "The Old House." It is possible.

Fortunately I have one door in my apartment that has these.
Apparently they became popular in World War I when the metals normally used were scarce.

Giant Lacewing

Found this guy at work. After checking in, walking out the front doors, I found him stuck between the two sets of doors. When I opened the front door he flew out and landed on the door so I could take his picture. I believe it's a giant lacewing. Every source I can find says they're rare and little is known about them. He was a little over an inch long, much bigger than the green lacewing which is very common around here this time of year.
